Over three quarters of all puppies in developing countries die from disease. Many kittens are unwanted and are thrown out with the rubbish and left to die.
Due to the increasing number of dogs and cats worldwide, thousands are killed inhumanely each year in a bid to deal with the overpopulation problem which has been proven in a number of studies to be an ineffective method of control.
If we look at street dogs, one female can produce up to eight puppies a year. So if she lives for five years, she could have produced more than 40 street dogs. If there are 500 females in an area, in five years they could produce 20,000 puppies. And then THEY will start having puppies. These numbers serve as an indication of how quickly a dog population could increase.
So, we decided to set this project – People for Animals – to raise awareness about responsible pet ownership and to emphasise the need for neutering/spaying.
And of course, we need sponsors and collaborators for that. Enter Pongo, the dog feed provider, and our project partner! The “Pongo” range – including Baby Pongo for puppies and Pongo for adults – has won the hearts of many clients since its launch and remains today our best-seller in dog feeds. We are fully financed by them, and are together organising a pet show on the 7th of July in the South-East of the island. Stay tuned for more details!

We are also working and receiving a training from PAWS Mauritius, who have already been doing an amazing work and are truly dedicated people! Find out more about them here:

Cheers!
